A client of 6 Degrees Group is hiring for a Controller in Atlanta, GA. This is a hands-on Controller role with a well-established professional services firm in Buckhead, overseeing the full accounting and financial operations function. You’ll own the month-end close process, manage payroll and accounts payable, and keep the general ledger and bank reconciliations clean and current. The role also covers budgeting, 401k compliance and reporting, and partnering with outside CPAs on year-end financials and tax prep. It’s a great fit for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants real ownership over the finance function, with training provided for the right person. This would be a great fit for someone with smaller company experience.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full month-end close process, from billing through financial reporting for Partner meetings
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, daily banking, and ACH/wire transactions
- Maintain the general ledger, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and handle payroll and 401k administration
- Prepare the annual budget and provide year-end financials and reconciliations to outside CPAs for tax preparation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, with 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong general ledger management and journal entry/financial reporting experience
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and adjust to changing priorities
