6 Degrees Group is recruiting for a Senior Director of Finance in Atlanta, GA. Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Atlanta dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable individuals through therapeutic services, education, and professional development. This role serves as a financial leader for the organization, overseeing accounting operations, grant compliance, budgeting, and long-term financial strategy. The position plays a critical role in ensuring fiscal integrity and sustainability across a diverse portfolio of funding sources, including federal grants. It’s a compelling opportunity for a seasoned nonprofit finance professional who wants their work to have real social impact.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and grant-specific allocations
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting, monitor performance against budget, and present financial reports to leadership and the Board
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal grant requirements (2 CFR Part 200), and support the annual single audit process
- Oversee accounting platforms (SAGE Intacct, Salesforce, Bill.com) and supervise a small finance team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or Master’s degree a plus
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit environment
- Familiarity with federal grant compliance and single audit requirements preferred
- Proficiency in SAGE Intacct, Bill.com, or similar accounting platforms; strong Excel skills required
