6 Degrees Group is recruiting for a Director of Finance and Operations in Kennesaw, GA. Our client is an established construction and field services company looking for a hands-on finance leader to serve as the President’s right hand. This isn’t a typical Controller seat: you’ll build and own the management financials yourself, then turn those numbers into clear causes, risks, and recommendations. You’ll also oversee Accounting, manage and coach the Operations Manager, and own the people and management systems that keep work moving without everything landing on the President’s desk. It’s a full-time, in-office executive role for someone who wants a real seat at the table and enjoys building accountability through other leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver monthly management reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash, margins, working capital) along with actionable analysis and recommendations
  • Oversee the close, reconciliations, AR/AP, payroll, and controls, and lead budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and capital decision analysis
  • Directly manage the Operations Manager, set KPIs and an accountability cadence, and drive root-cause fixes across field, warehouse, equipment, and customer issues
  • Own HR and people systems, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and policies, while coordinating with the company’s CPA, lenders, and outside advisers

Qualifications:

  • Progressive senior leadership experience in a small to mid-sized operating business, ideally construction, field service, or distribution
  • Proven ability to personally build reliable management financial reports, plus a strong command of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and controls
  • Track record of managing managers and building practical KPI, SOP, and performance-management systems with limited resources
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred; CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus, along with strong Excel skills and comfort working with imperfect data
