Our client is hiring an Accountant in Atlanta, GA. Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit in Atlanta, and this role supports every part of its accounting operation. Youll report to the Senior Director of Finance and be the go-to contact for day-to-day accounting, covering AP, AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and sales tax. Beyond the transactional work, youll help with budgets, grant reporting, the year-end close, and the audit, and your ideas on process improvement and automation will be welcome. Responsibilities:
- Manage AP and AR, issue payments on schedule, and review and code staff credit card transactions
- Prepare manual journal entries and reconcile bank, suspense, and other balance sheet accounts, keeping the GL, subledgers, and CRM in sync
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax for the retail stores, and support monthly budget reports and grant and funding reporting
- Assist with annual and quarterly budgets, the fiscal year close, and external audit prep, and recommend process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Management; a Masters in Accounting is a plus
- 3+ years of AP and general accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization
- Solid GAAP knowledge and strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and the discretion to handle sensitive financial information
